Jennie Stuart Health (JSH) Visitation Guidelines
Effective: Thursday, December 1, 2022

New Visitation Guidelines include:

Emergency Department: One (1) visitor will be allowed to accompany the patient. The one (1) visitor must remain in the patient room at all times. Visitors will be allowed to switch out during their loved one’s visit in the Emergency Department. Note: Visitors to COVID-19 Patients must comply with Enhanced Respiratory Precautions including N95 masks as well as gowns during the designated visitation.

MED SURG: Visitors are allowed following appropriate screening and masking protocols from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. One (1) visitor will be allowed to stay overnight. Note: Visitors to COVID-19 Patients must comply with Enhanced Respiratory Precautions including N95 masks as well as gowns during the visitation.

PCU: Two (2) visitors at a time are allowed following appropriate screening and masking protocols from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. One (1) visitor will be allowed to stay overnight. Note: Visitors to COVID-19 Patients must comply with Enhanced Respiratory Precautions including N95 masks as well as gowns during the visitation. COVID-19 patients requiring BIPAP may have restricted visitation.

Intensive Care Unit Non-COVID-19 (ICU): Two (2) visitors are allowed following appropriate screening and masking protocols from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., these visitors may alternate with alternative visitor(s) each day continuing no more than 2 visitors at a time. One visitor may be permitted to stay overnight. The overnight visitor will not be permitted to alternate with another visitor. No Visitors will be permitted between the hours of 2pm-4pm to allow a rest period our patients. Note: Visitors to COVID-19 Patients must comply with Enhanced Respiratory Precautions including N95 masks as well as gowns during the designated visitation. COVID-19 patients requiring BIPAP or Ventilator Management may have restricted visitation.

Maternity and NICU: Visitation is limited to one birthing partner or coach that should remain the same throughout the duration of the mother’s stay with the addition of 1 more support person. There will be no switching out of visitors in Labor and Delivery. Post-Partum may have 3 visitors daily; the Support Person/Coach plus 2 others, no switching out. EXCEPTION – No visitors during kangaroo care between 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in order to allow undisturbed parent/infant bonding time. NICU is limited to the parents of the baby only. Siblings may visit daily 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Note: Visitors to COVID-19 Patients must comply with Enhanced Respiratory Precautions including N95 masks as well as gowns during the designated visitation.

Behavioral Health Unit: In person visitation remains suspended at this time. Zoom visitation appointments are available by contacting the unit directly.

Outpatient Infusions/Outpatient Laboratory and Radiology Procedures: May have 1 support person to accompany them for their appointment.

Surgery patients: One (1) visitor will be allowed to accompany the patient to the holding area. After completion of pre-surgical processes One (1) additional visitor may join with no switching out. Once the patient’s surgical procedure is complete, the patient’s visitor(s) will be notified of next steps and visiting opportunities.

JSH Visitation Guidelines: No visitors under the age of 12 years old will be allowed. No one under 18 years of age will be allowed to visit patients with known COVID-19 diagnosis Day 0 to Day 5. Exception: Siblings may visit daily 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on our Maternity unit ONLY.

Essential caregivers (one healthy adult) must accompany patients under the age of 18 and adult patients who are physically dependent or vulnerable and require assistance.
With prior arrangement, visitors of patients at end-of-life may be allowed to visit outside of the posted visiting hours.
Visitor Entrance: Visitors should enter through the main hospital entrance near the Emergency Department. This entrance will be closed at 7:00 p.m. and will reopen at 6:00 a.m. the following day.

JSH’s 18th Street Entrance remains open for outpatient infusion, cardiac rehabilitation, and pulmonary rehabilitation patients. Visitors may also utilize this entrance. This entrance will be open Monday thru Friday 7:30 am until 4:30 pm.

COVID-19 Screenings Screenings will be provided at each of these locations. No other hospital entrances will be open.

  • Once you arrive you will be asked the reason for your visit with us today as well as if you have experienced any symptoms of Covid-19 recently? If yes, a mask will be provided if no, a mask will be offered. Symptoms of COVID-19 include: fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell. Any visitor(s) will be provided a surgical mask upon request. Visitors may choose to wear their own cloth face-covering. Note: Visitors to COVID-19 Patients must comply with Enhanced Respiratory Precautions including N95 masks as well as gowns during the designated visitation.
  • For the protection of our patients, visitors, and staff, visitors presenting with a fever greater than 100°F, symptoms of COVID-19, have been in contact with a COVID-19 patient, and those unwilling to wear a mask will be asked to reschedule their visit to a later date.

JSH is constantly reviewing current recommendations, guidelines, and general COVID-19 information to make certain that our patients, visitors, staff, and providers are informed and protected. These guidelines are subject to change should there be a significant increase in the number or trajectory of COVID-19 cases within our community.
